Lunar Electromagnetic Logistics Platform (LELP)

LELP is a reusable lunar platform concept. It lands once, collects regolith and launches small return capsules with an electromagnetic launcher, so that a new spacecraft is not needed for every delivery.

The work is a systems-engineering exercise: an MVP concept, a feasibility study, requirements, engineering drawings and debris-compliance considerations. A separate concept website presents the idea.

  • Category :Aerospace / Systems Engineering
  • Method :Concept design, feasibility, requirements
  • Core idea :Electromagnetic launch of small return capsules
  • Material :Lunar regolith
  • Deliverables :MVP concept, feasibility study, requirements, drawings
  • Concept site :LELP website
  • Status :Concept stage

Core Features

The concept replaces one-off missions with repeated cycles from permanent infrastructure on the surface.

  • A platform that lands once and repeats the cycle.
  • Collection of regolith from the surface.
  • Packaging into a small return capsule.
  • Launch by an electromagnetic launcher.
  • Requirements and engineering drawings.
  • Debris-compliance considerations for the capsules.

“Permanent infrastructure on the Moon, repeated missions, one landing.”

Design Note - Reusable Platform

Architecture

The system is described as four blocks: a collector that gathers regolith, packaging that prepares a sample capsule, an electromagnetic launcher that gives it an impulse, and the return capsule itself. The feasibility study asks whether the concept can work at all, and the requirements define what the system must do. The images are the concept drawings from the LELP website: the isometric platform view, the exploded structural view, the landing gear, the internal equipment layout and the three-view drawing.

Mission Cycle

  • Land the platform once.
  • Collect regolith.
  • Package a small sample capsule.
  • Launch it with the electromagnetic launcher.
  • Receive the return capsule.
  • Repeat the cycle.

What It Shows

  • Systems engineering from idea to requirements.
  • Feasibility thinking for an aerospace concept.
  • Awareness of orbital debris rules.
  • Communicating a technical concept to a wider audience.
